Thank you to the Sierra Club for featuring us in this article, A Pinch of Eco-Goodness: A Guide to Sustainable Salts
BENEFITS OF SEA SALT:
Unprocessed sea salt benefits include many positive effects on the body. The composition of our blood plasma, lymphatic fluid and extra-cellular fluid all mirror the chemical balance of the ocean water that it comes from. The human body uses the minerals and trace elements in Celtic Sea Salt® to create electrolytes and maintain the “internal oceans” which are vital to the proper functioning of every system in the body. Unprocessed sea salt benefits are well-established at this point in time.
EARTH & SEA SALTS are a healthier alternative to table salt that add the yummy factor to your food! We take the beauty that is sea salt and infuse it with herbs, garlic and citrus. Our different blends are a simple and natural way to season your culinary creations.
Not just any coarse sea salt is used in making these aromatic and delicious blends. When searching for a high-quality salt, the name Celtic Sea Salt® is at the top of the list. Rich in minerals, trace elements and flavor, it is the natural choice. The light grey variety of these sea salts is used because it is unprocessed, only being dried by the wind and sun with no anti-caking or bleaching agents added. This salt is sustainably harvested by paludiers (salt farmers) in pristine coastal regions of Brittany, France in a way that preserves the balance of ocean minerals. Because it contains a natural balance of 80 minerals and trace elements and has a superb taste, many health professionals and culinary chefs recommend it!
Many of the herbs are naturally grown on site and picked fresh by the maker of EARTH & SEA SALTS. Fresh and organic ingredients make our sea salt blends explode with flavor and add an extra boost when marinating. If you are looking for an easy, yummy and healthy way to season your meals, please try EARTH & SEA SALTS. May your day include good food!
Do you ever struggle coming up with a new and easy dish to make for a quick summer meal? I definitely do, because not wanting to turn the oven on during a hot day is a huge limiting factor when coming up with dinner ideas. So, I want to share a simple recipe with you, Smoked Chili Shrimp, and offer a couple alternative options for it.
Before we get started though, I have to give credit to Tammy and Scott Saunders for this idea. Pictured below is their Cajun Shrimp made with Earth & Sea Salts Cajun Blend. I will share their original recipe with you and then my modifications.
ABOUT THE SALT ARTIST
Brigitte McBride, founder of EARTH & SEA SALTS and maker of the salt blends, started her company in 2008 with a goal of making healthy, natural, flavorful salt blends for the kitchen. She worked at Midway Farms for a year learning about growing and using herbs for culinary use. EARTH & SEA SALTS was born from the love of cooking combined with the dream to create an independent business.
Brigitte’s grandmother was a big influence on her, teaching her many things about food, like using ingredients straight from the garden, saving extra food by canning and freezing and most importantly, to KEEP IT SIMPLE! When making EARTH & SEA SALTS, she uses fresh ingredients and makes each blend in small batches, just like grandma would have done. Her son has also greatly influenced her by inspiring her to pursue the dream of an independent business. Brigitte is passionate about food, nutrition, saving resources, taking care of her family and fostering healthy human connections that make this world a better place for ALL living things. This is WHO and WHAT you support when purchasing EARTH & SEA SALTS.
For the Love of Gabe
It seems like most of the great things in my life have stemmed from being a mother. Sometimes it can be hard to know what the best choice is, but if you focus on what’s really important to you, it becomes a little clearer. Hands down, my son, is the most important thing to me. I have struggled with low self-esteem my whole life, and with this struggle comes not always loving myself enough to take the healthy path. However, love for your child is a powerful teacher.
When I became a mother, it was no longer an option to play small. His love has given me the courage to change and grow, express myself and share my gifts. My first priority to him as a mother is to show him that you can be happy by believing in your dreams, persisting in your passions and loving like the world could end today. I need to show him how to love yourself, mistakes and all. How do I love myself? By being quiet enough to really hear that little voice inside (which is actually screaming) and then honor it by taking action. To learn more about my personal journey, visit my other blog at:
Food is a huge realm of possibilities in the form of choices, so remember to make some good ones. Be a healthy example for the people you love.
