Sea Salt Blends - Culinary
DO I NEED TO REFRIGERATE EARTH & SEA SALTS?
The sea salt in these culinary blends naturally preserves the other ingredients, so they can be left out on the shelf. However, refrigerating them does preserve the aroma of the fresh herbs and garlic in the four wet blends (Original, Greek, Southwest and Thai Chili). If you use them infrequently, we definitely recommend keeping the wet blends in the fridge.
WHY ARE EARTH & SEA SALTS WET?
EARTH & SEA SALTS are made with unprocessed, coarse sea salt that is still moist from the ocean, only being dried by the sun and wind. Also, depending on the blend, lemon or lime juice is added to enhance the flavor profile. This makes EARTH & SEA SALTS exceptionally good as meat rubs!
ARE EARTH & SEA SALTS CERTIFIED ORGANIC?
As of yet, the USDA does not recognize salt as an item that can be certified as organic as it contains no carbon compounds. Because EARTH & SEA SALTS are over 95% salt, the product as a whole cannot be certified organic. However, the USDA does allow the word “organic” to be used for ingredients that are certified organic. These ingredients are designated this way on the EARTH & SEA SALTS labels.
CAN I USE A SALT GRINDER TO MAKE EARTH & SEA SALTS A FINER GRIND?
We don’t recommend using a salt grinder with these blends because of the moisture content. A mortar and pestle are the right tools if you are looking for a finer grind for EARTH & SEA SALTS.
